Experiencing Loss

Experiencing Loss

Bianca Williams

My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:26

Dearest Believer,

We will experience heartbreaking loss at some or even multiple points in our lives. Times when you will feel lost, alone and forgotten. Times when there seems to be no relief in sight. Those times when along with David we become “weary with groaning” drenching our couch with tears and ask, “How long, O Lord?”(Ps.6, 130)

Maybe you are going through that dark valley now. Maybe you are experiencing the death of a loved one. Maybe a betrayal you could not have imagined. A child having walked away from the faith you have diligently taught. So much hurt surrounds us in this life.

Dearest,  know as I write this, my heart goes out to you. Those valleys can seem so deep, those dark tunnels so long, those tears flowing without ceasing. So, grieve that loss. Cry out to the Lord. He hears you, he sees you. He collects your tears.

“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle.

You have recorded each one in your book.”

Psalm 56:8 (NLT)

And He also loves you, redeems you and restores you. Although the pain may stay with you everyday in this life, God is also there with you. The truth of scripture, despite our feelings or thoughts, is this:

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.”

Deuteronomy 31:8

“But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God

my Savior; my God will hear me.”

Micah 7:7

“Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will

rise. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.”

Micah 7:8

“Cast your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.”

1 Peter 5:7

As you meditate on His words to you, may they give you hope in the One who is faithful and true. His words are healing and life. And although that pain may linger on this side of heaven, know dear one, that He is waiting to take away those tears and fill you with His eternal joy and peace.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will

be no more death, or mourning or crying or pain, for the

old order of things has passed away.”

Revelation 21:4

“And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing, everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;

They shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Isaiah 35:10

Hallelujah! What an amazing future we have with our Lord! Let us cling to the hope that will never fail us.

           The Lord be with you,
